Deya or Deia as its spelt in Mallorquin, is a quaint village on the north west coast of Mallorca (Majorca), it lies beneath the towering mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains.
Due to its sleek surroundings and historical buildings the Village has always attracted Artists and poets, Robert Graves being one that settled in Deia and his family still reside there to this day.
In the past the locals made their living from the land and the production of lemons and oranges being important, as well as fishing that takes place even today from the small little Cala near the village. Deya is a delightful place today that offers charm and sophistication, there are but a couple of hotels in the area including the five star La Residencia, if you stay here in Deia you will get the chance to enjoy traditional Mallorcan life as well as enjoying the small beach near the town that’s great for snorkelling. The village is not one for shopping apart from nick knacks , but has great little bars and restaurants to enjoy.
Try Deia (Deya) out for a peaceful location in Mallorca it will not disappoint.
