Russia is becoming 'the' place to visit after it started to really open itself up to mainstream tourism after decades of isolation and government control, this culminating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup being hosted for the first time. Places such as St. Petersburg with its royal palaces which in the recent years celebrated being designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site which also boasts the world’s largest art museum ‘The Hermitage’.
