Argassi is located on the east coast of Zakynthos just 4km from the capital city, Zakynthos Town . Argassi used to be a district of Zakynthos Town but has now grown into a resort in its own right and is one of the most popular for holidaymakers on the island. Argassi combines some of the best features of the other resorts. It has a good variety of bars, restaurants and shops, making it appealing to people of all ages. It's a good choice for parents with teenage kids. The main centre of town is compact giving it a lively atmosphere. Outside the town centre it's much quieter. Nightlife falls somewhere in between Laganas and the other resorts, with enough going on to keep most people happy.
The resort is a beautiful seaside village built in a verdant plain at the foot of Mount Skopos and is said to the oldest on the island. It holds an enviable position between Zante Town and the Vassilikos Peninsular with the magnificent Mt Skopos as its backdrop. The town centre revolves around the main road that runs through the resort and is flanked both sides by a wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets making it very easy to find everything you need.
The beach is a narrow strip stretching over 1km along the coast and many of the hotels and accommodation is built close to the coast.
Argassi is constantly increasing in popularity as the area offers every possible convenience to its visitors and is surrounded by beautiful pine-clad countryside with pretty flowers. Travel in the opposite direction and you will find the best beaches on the island like Bannana, Gerakas and Dafni.
